REMINDER: COEH-CE IH Forum on 11.29.2016: Recognition, Evaluation, and Control of Legionella in Building Water Systems

This presentation will cover the basic framework for understanding the principles of the recognition, evaluation, and control of Legionella in various water systems from the perspective of the industrial hygienist’s role. An overview of technical strategies for environmental exposure and risk assessment will be provided as well as discussion of data collection and interpretation in support of environmental source identification. Actual case studies will be reviewed for purposes of demonstration and to assist in achievement of learning objectives.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the course attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the principles of recognition, evaluation and control of legionella in various water systems
  • Describe the technical strategies for environmental exposure and risk assessment.
  • Identify issues of data collection and interpretation.

Accreditation
This event contains 3.0 hours of instruction and may be eligible for 0.5 ABIH CM credits. The forum meets BCSP criteria for 0.25 COC points and REHS certification CEUs. Nurses: COEH Continuing Education Program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing Provider BRN # 12983 for 3.3 contact hours for the IH Forum

Speaker
MEGAN CANRIGHT RABINOWITZ, MPH, CIH has a wide array of experience in the fields of Industrial Hygiene and Environmental, Health & Safety. As the Corporate Director of Scientific Operations with Forensic Analytical, she provides company-wide technical and operational direction and facilitates the internal Quality Assurance/Quality Control program. Megan’s primary areas of expertise include occupational and environmental exposure assessment, and the evaluation and control of waterborne pathogens in support of environmental infection control. Megan is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and is very active in the local San Diego and National chapters of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, serving as the 2015-2016 Chair of the AIHA Risk Assessment Committee and current Secretary of the California Industrial Hygiene Council. She is a graduate of the 2011 AIHA Future Leaders Institute (FLI) and currently chairs the AIHA FLI Advisory Board.

Directions
BART – The training location is two short blocks from the 12th Street BART Station.
Driving – Take I-980 and get off at the 14th-18th Street Exit. Take 14th Street to Clay Street. Turn left on Clay. There is a parking garage on the right, across the street from 1515 Clay Street. There are also other parking garages in the area.
 
When you enter the big lobby of 1515 Clay, take the escalator to the second floor. Follow the signs for Room 2.

Refund Policy
To cancel your registration please send your written request to: info@coehce.org. Cancellation notification must be received no later than one week before the start date of the class in which you are registered, in order to qualify for a refund, less a $35.00 administrative fee. Substitute attendees are welcome. There is no tuition refund within one week of the start date of a class.
